Your NEW Duckbrook Pantry

Founded and opened by D Henman - 08/01/2026

Welcome to the New Duckbrook Pantry

We’re delighted to introduce the Duckbrook Pantry a welcoming, community-powered space dedicated to making nutritious food affordable, accessible and dignified for everyone in our neighbourhood.

At Duckbrook Pantry, food isn’t just about sustenance it’s about connection, belonging and support. We believe that when neighbours look out for one another, communities thrive. That’s why our pantry combines practical support with kindness, respect, and choice.

What Is Duckbrook Pantry?

Duckbrook Pantry is a membership-based, low-cost food membership hub where local residents can come and choose the groceries they need at prices they can afford. Rather than handing out fixed parcels, the Pantry operates a shop-style model so members can pick items that suit their tastes, dietary needs and household preferences.

Our shelves are stocked with a wide range of food and essentials, including:

  • Fresh fruit and vegetables

  • Pantry staples (rice, pasta, cereals)

  • Tinned goods and long-life cupboard items

  • Hygiene and household basics

  • Surplus food rescued from local suppliers

Why the Pantry Matters

Many families and individuals in Duckbrook (Duckmanton and Poolsbrook) and the surrounding areas face rising living costs, increasing food prices and financial insecurity. The Duckbrook Pantry is a practical, sustainable solution offering choice, dignity and support without stigma.

Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Affordable access: Members pay a small weekly fee and shop for food at specially subsidised prices.

  • Choice and dignity: You choose what you need, when you need it.

  • Community-led: Run by local people, shaped by residents and rooted in neighbourly care.

  • Partnerships that help: Working with local food producers, councils and charities to reduce waste and bring quality food into the community.

More Than Just Food

The Pantry is a place to meet others, share experiences and build connections. With friendship, information and referral support available on site, Duckbrook Pantry aims to be a hub of support and encouragement, not just groceries.

We host regular:

  • Volunteer opportunities

  • Advice sessions on healthy eating, budgeting and more
